What to Look for in a Medical Machining Company

May 08, 2023

Choosing the Right Partner is Imperative

You likely already know outsourcing the creation of your medical device can help you save money, ensure standards are upheld, and free up your team to focus on critical business activities. With differing levels of complexity and demands for medical devices on the market, how do you know which medical machining company will fulfill your needs?

When looking for a medical machining company, it’s important to take your time evaluating your choices and ensure the team will meet your specific needs. Partnering with the wrong company can lead to increased lead times and even put your business at risk if parts are not manufactured correctly. If you’re looking to bring a medical device to market, consider this list of qualities and values before signing on with a manufacturing company.

Qualities to Look for in a Medical Machining Company

Experience

Experience is one of the most crucial qualities you must look for in a medical machining company. Medical parts must be manufactured with the tightest tolerances or your crucial device could fail. With so much on the line, you’ll want a medical machining company with decades of knowledge.

Cameron Manufacturing & Design has been in business since 1983 and has extensive experience in creating accurate machined parts for various industries, including the medical field. Our numerous capabilities help you with your part from initial concept to final product.

Turnkey Manufacturing Abilities

Turnkey manufacturing means one company oversees all steps of the manufacturing process. This includes creating initial designs, making the part, and installing it. With all operations under one roof, it leaves less room for delays, resulting in a more cost-effective process for you.

At Cameron Manufacturing & Design, we offer a range of services to fulfill your organization’s needs. When you need engineering design, custom machining, fabrication, metal finishing, or installation services, our team will be there to support you.

Industry Certifications

When your prospective medical machining company has industry certifications, it shows their dedication to creating accurate, reliable products. We keep two important industry certifications that help us dependably create high-quality products for our customers.

Our ISO 9001 certification sets criteria for our quality management systems. It’s based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, and continual improvement. We also hold an ISO 14001 certification that maps the framework that our company follows for our effective environmental management system.

Proven Quality Assurance Processes

You’ll want to work with a company that has dedicated processes to ensure your products are of the highest quality. Cameron Manufacturing & Design uses high-tech Creaform quality control equipment to scan our machined parts and ensure quality. The equipment we use in-house includes the MetraSCAN750 Elite, HandyPROBE Next Elite, and MaxSHOT 3D. These feed directly into our VXinspect and VXmodel software to accurately measure all scanned parts and pair seamlessly with our CAD software.

This equipment allows us to perform geometric and freeform inspections on all of our custom machined, fabricated, and welded parts, from sizes of 12 inches or less to more than 30 feet. Using this process, we continuously verify the quality of our custom machining services and ensure that each finished part matches your exact design specifications.
